Rhode Island Paycheck Calculator 2026
Rhode Island uses graduated income-tax brackets, applied here to annualized wages after the state's standard deduction and exemptions. Federal withholding follows the IRS Publication 15-T percentage method — the one payroll systems use. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Rhode Island's published percentage method is applied in full and unisex — one rate table serves every filing status — with the $1,000 annual withholding exemption subtracted per exemption claimed on Form RI W-4. Because this is an annualized estimate it can differ by cents from the Division's per-period tables, which round the annual bands to each payroll period. One published rule is not expressed: Rhode Island zeroes the exemption outright once annual wages exceed $290,800, and this model keeps applying it, so above that wage the estimate runs LOW by at most about $60 a year for each exemption claimed. Estimate only — the Division of Taxation's own withholding tables are the official check.

What is the Rhode Island income tax rate for 2026?
Rhode Island uses graduated income-tax brackets, applied here to annualized wages after the state's standard deduction and exemptions. The figure was transcribed from Rhode Island Division of Taxation — 2026 Rhode Island Employer's Income Tax Withholding Tables (updated 11/04/2025), Income Tax Withholding Percentage Method for the period beginning on or after January 1, 2026, Table 7 Annual Payroll Period and verified on 2026-08-01. Because withholding tables and annual calculations differ slightly, treat the result as an estimate and check it against the state's own table.
Why does this differ from my actual pay stub?
Two reasons. Pre-tax items — retirement contributions, health premiums, HSA deductions — reduce taxable pay and are not modelled here. And this uses an annualized approximation of the state's schedule rather than the exact withholding tables your employer's payroll system uses, which is disclosed on every result.
