Arizona Paycheck Calculator 2026
Arizona taxes wage income at a flat 2% on gross wages. Federal withholding follows the IRS Publication 15-T percentage method — the one payroll systems use. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Works offline — your inputs never leave this device. How that works
Arizona does not withhold with brackets, a standard deduction or exemptions: it withholds a flat percentage of gross taxable wages that the employee picks on Form A-4. The 2026 options are 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5%, 3.0% and 3.5%, plus a zero election for employees who expect no Arizona tax liability, and this estimate applies the department's 2.0% default because that is what an employer must withhold until a completed A-4 arrives. If you elected a different percentage your real withholding is off from this figure in exact proportion — a 3.5% election withholds 75% more, a 1.0% election 50% less. Two further directions of error: Arizona's percentage applies to gross TAXABLE wages (federal Form W-2 box 1, i.e. gross less pre-tax deductions) while this annualized estimate applies it to gross, so it runs HIGH for anyone with meaningful pre-tax deductions; and any extra flat dollar amount you added on Form A-4 is not included, so it runs LOW by that amount. Estimate only — the department's own withholding calculator is the official check.

What is the Arizona income tax rate for 2026?
Arizona taxes wage income at a flat 2% on gross wages. The figure was transcribed from Arizona Department of Revenue — Arizona Form A-4, Employee's Arizona Withholding Election, 2026 (with the Employee's Instructions printed on the form) and verified on 2026-08-01. Because withholding tables and annual calculations differ slightly, treat the result as an estimate and check it against the state's own table.
Why does this differ from my actual pay stub?
Two reasons. Pre-tax items — retirement contributions, health premiums, HSA deductions — reduce taxable pay and are not modelled here. And this uses an annualized approximation of the state's schedule rather than the exact withholding tables your employer's payroll system uses, which is disclosed on every result.
