Estimated net pay$1,869.41
Federal tax$199.78
Quebec tax$238.54
QPP$149.02
EI$32.50
QPIP$10.75
Total deductions$630.59
  • QPP: ($2,500.00 − $134.62 exemption) × 6.3% = $149.02
  • EI: $2,500.00 × 1.3% = $32.50
  • QPIP: $2,500.00 × 0.43% = $10.75
  • Annual taxable income: $65,000.00 − $0.00 deductions − $615.00 enhanced QPP (F5) = $64,385.00
  • Federal: $64,385.00 × 20.5% − $3,804.00 − credits (BPA $16,452.00, CPP/EI, employment amount) = $6,220.77/yr
  • Quebec federal abatement 16.5%: −$1,026.43 → $5,194.34/yr
  • Quebec: $64,385.00 × 19% − $2,717.00 − credits = $6,202.14/yr

This applies the CRA T4127 annualized method with the basic personal amounts only. Extra TD1 credits, taxable benefits, and commission income change the result. CRA’s Payroll Deductions Online Calculator ↗ is the official check.

Quebec paycheque questions

How much tax is deducted from a paycheque in Quebec?

Federal and Quebec income tax are withheld using the CRA's T4127 payroll formulas, along with QPP, QPIP and a reduced EI premium. The amounts depend on gross pay, pay frequency, and the credits claimed on your TD1 forms. Enter your figures above for an estimate.

What is the Quebec basic personal amount?

Quebec sets its basic personal amount at $18,952 for 2026, applied as a credit at the lowest provincial rate of 14%. The federal basic personal amount applies separately and phases down at higher incomes.

Why is Quebec different?

Quebec administers its own pension plan (QPP) and parental insurance plan (QPIP), which is why the EI premium rate is lower there. Quebec residents also receive a federal abatement that reduces federal tax payable. Revenu Québec collects provincial income tax separately from the CRA.

Why does this differ from my actual pay stub?

This applies the basic personal amounts only. Extra TD1 credits, pension adjustments, taxable benefits, union dues, and employer plans all change the result. The CRA's Payroll Deductions Online Calculator is the official reference and is linked with every estimate.
